3D Speed Polars

The 3D Speed Polars app functions the same as the ACC Speed Polars app, but it displays a fully interactive and highly detailed 3D polar chart instead of a standard 2D polar chart.

Additionally, the 3D Speed Polars app can be used with polars generated by any boat class with up to three sail selections.

The 3D Speed Polar CSV File Editor is a web-based tool that allows users to upload, edit, and manage CSV files containing polar data. It simplifies the process of modifying and downloading polar CSV files for different sail configurations (Jib, Genoa, Spinnaker).

Supported CSV Format

The CSV file should follow this format:

TWS,TWA,BS

6,45,5.8

6,60,6.2

10,45,7.1

• TWS (True Wind Speed) – Knots

• TWA (True Wind Angle) – Degrees

• BS (Boat Speed) – Knots

Each file should contain values for a specific sail configuration: Jib, Genoa, or Spinnaker.

Using the CSV File Editor

1. Uploading a CSV File

1. Click the "Choose File" button.

2. Select a valid CSV file from your system.

3. The file will be processed, and the data will be displayed in a table format.
   
   

2. Editing Table Data

• Click on any cell in the table to edit its value.

• The changes will be automatically saved in the table.

• The first row (headers) is not editable.
  
  

3. Adding a New Row

1. Click the "Add Row" button.

2. A new blank row will be added at the bottom.

3. Click on the new row and enter the required values.
   
   

4. Clearing All Data

• Click the "Clear Data" button to remove all data from the table.

• This will also reset the uploaded file.
  
  

5. Downloading the Edited CSV File

After making changes, you can download the modified file in different formats:

1. Click "Download as Jib Polars" to save the file as jib_polars.csv.

2. Click "Download as Genoa Polars" to save the file as genoa_polars.csv.

3. Click "Download as Spin Polars" to save the file as spin_polars.csv.
   
   

Each button saves the current table data into a CSV file named according to the selected sail configuration.

The Voice to CSV Data Recorder simplifies collecting polar data by automatically formatting and saving your spoken values into a CSV file, ready for upload to Speed Polars apps—no templates needed. The app features a real-time data preview chart and an editable table for quick corrections.

How to Use

1. Open Vsk5 in windowed mode or on a second monitor for easy access.

2. Start a race and monitor TWS (True Wind Speed), TWA (True Wind Angle), and BS (Boat Speed) from your instrument panel.

3. Click “Start Dictation” and clearly say the values in order: TWS, TWA, BS.

4. After the third value, the app records the data, updates the live preview, and adds it to the CSV table.

5. If needed, edit values directly in the table; all changes will update in the preview and final CSV file.

The 3D Speed Polars CSV File Database is designed to make accessing and analyzing performance data easy.

Hosted on Google Drive, it provides instant access to organized polar data, allowing users to quickly view, download, and manage files.

The folder structure is organized by boat class, with each class containing subfolders for every wind speed from 8 to 24 knots. Users can open any wind speed folder to view, download, and work with auto trim polars for that specific wind speed.

Right now, the database is limited to a few hundred data points, but it is growing with new polar data added daily. The goal is to fully map out the polars for the most popular boats in Vsk5, offering a detailed and evolving resource for competitive sailors.

Users can edit polars as needed and upload them to the Speed Polars apps for deeper analysis and performance optimization. The structure also allows for easy expansion, meaning new boat classes, higher wind speeds and more data points can be added over time.
